Each house concert will have its own rules and requirements, so we recommend you contact each promoter individually for details.
Ukiah:
We are approximately 2.5 hours North of San Francisco on the Highway 101 corridor. Bookings can be coordinated with other shows, in particular Willits (Shanachie Pub), Hopland (The Hopland Inn), or Lake or Mendocino Coast cities. Ukiah makes a nice stop between here and Humbolt, Davis, or Eugene.
We recommend artists arrive at least two hours prior to show time, to catch your land legs, relax, and have ample time should traffic in Santa Rosa be a problem.
Accomodations:
Both Clay Street House and Jones Street Yard Concerts provide overnight accommodations with advance notice, for one-two persons. Jones Street is a BBQ and food is available for performers as well as guests. Clay Street House is a potluck as well.
Sound:
Performers are expected to perform acoustically in homes and gardens, although some amplification at low levels is allowable (for bassists/keyboardists).
Jones Street Yard Concert provides a small stage, electricity and a small PA System for vocals and acoustic guitar only.
Acoustic Cafe and Sundays in the Park take place in large, open areas and amplification is the norm. A full PA System and sound crew are provided for these venues, and attendance ranges from 80+ (Acoustic Cafe) to 500 (Sundays in the Park).
Attendance at House Concerts:
We are in our second season of providing these house concerts. Attendance has been dependent on weather or conflicting events and especially, whether or not the artist has properly promoted their appearance. At this time, the house concerts do not take any percentage of the door, and we charge $20 as a suggest donation.
Promotions:
We recommend a good 2-3 weeks blast to the Ukiah Daily Journal, the Mendocino Exchange, online Mendocino Bulletin Board, and sending posters and/or handbills to each location in advance so your hosts can help promote you as well. Our local public radio station, KZYX & Z in Philo, California, also provides an opportunity for advertising events on their website, with 3-weeks advance. Each host has their own email lists and you can rest assured they will promote your concert through them.
